One Minute blog – Today in my garden

The mild English summer makes any gardener look good and the recent rain has made my dahlias extra blousy and colourful!

This spring I split the tubers into mixed bunches as an experiment and I love the results. I put some in old crates with 1″ of gravel under 6-8″ of fresh compost. Tall tubs are behind and small pots in front to hide them. They don’t like wet cold weather so I drag them under cover in winter. Some people say they don’t need it but we have heavy clay and bulbs thrive so I haul the tubs after the first frost ๐Ÿ’“
